Apon, Arthur Wayne

"Arthur W. Apon, Sr. of Albany, Georgia, died last December. A native of Harvey, Illinois, he had lived in Albany since 1955. He was a retired Marine master sergeant, serving in World War II and the Korean War and receiving the Purple Heart. He was towner of Apon''s Upholstery and was a member of the VFW, Happy Hearts Senior Organization and First Baptist Church in Putney, Georgia, where he attended Wes Causey Sunday School Class.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah E. Apon of Putney, Georgia: two sons, Arthur Wayne Apon, Jr. of Putney, Georgia and Bobby Apon of Kennesaw, Georgia: a daughter, Sherry Coupland of Indianapolis, Indiana; a sister, Maria Bryan of Bismarck; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held at the First Baptist Church in Putney, Georgia with burial in Floral Memory Gardens. The Revs, Johnny Richter and Bud Abbott officiated."
